Greenwich Village Kitchen

Private Residence | Renovation | New York

Working within the tight space constraints of a New York City apartment, this kitchen renovation features a vibrant orchestration of sleek lines, simple forms, and rich visual texture to create a space as lively as the cooking that happens in it. The tight grain of fumed eucalyptus cabinetry is accented by a nickel trim which sparkles under pinpoint lighting features, filling the room with a sense of movement and drama. A seamless mirrored backsplash and mirrored backing in the upper cabinetry give the illusion of more space, suggestive of a pass-through kitchen open to the neighboring rooms. Tonally, the palette is neutral, letting the blue tiger-eye countertops take center stage. The natural color, striation and texture of the tiger-eye tiles draw you deep into the space, culminating in their use as a backsplash over the range.
